Reply with quote | #1 | Hi Everyone, Let's continue the thread! Post your JSP for this week! Remember a JSP is a small health behavior that you promise to do for one week. At the end of the week, you can renew your pledge, change it to fit you better, or add another to your list. I'm going to repeat my pledge because I really need help getting to bed on time. I will turn off the computer by 10:30 and climb under the covers before 11:00pm Let's see how many JSP's we can do this week! Post YOUR JSP now!!!! Janis

Reply with quote | #2 | Well, I am going to make my JSP for 2 days, AGAIN, of walking this week. Last week don't know what happened - not once did I walk - no reason, just didn't. Where oh where did my excitment go from over a week ago? Got to get that back as our weather is cooling off at least in the morning now. I did hear that soon it should drop 20 degrees, from 90's to 70's for high. So - JSP - walk 2 days this week. Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Reply with quote | #4 | Walked outside this morning and it is actually just a little chilly out there. I am sleeping with a sheet on now at night. So I should walk this morning and get the circulation going. Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Reply with quote | #5 | OK, when I said I "walked out side this morning." what I really should have said was I stepped outside to take out the garbage. SO I did just do my walk - 15 min. - yeah, me! Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

I think my JSP will be to watch the carb intake on my mid-day and late night snacks. My meal choices have been pretty good but the snack carbs can add up. I've been reading this forum and the Diabetes Daily Forum and focusing on carb threads and will shoot for lowering the intake, combined with more walking. __________________ We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust our sails... |

Reply with quote | #7 | We have been having "Indian Summer" for awhile. Temps had been 40's and low 50's for awhile. Then we were seeing 60's. Great walking weather. 2.5 miles in one hour. I can no longer do 3 miles in an hour like in early 2008. The old rooster is slowing down.
My JSP is to walk 2.5 miles per day, wvery day this week, except day. A little colder and rainy today. Back to my treadmill. I walked the 2.5 miles on Sunday and Monday. The rest of the week should be fit for my walks. __________________ "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift."....Eleanor Roosevelt

Check-in: My JSP was to reduce carbs this week. I've done so-so (yesterday carb intake was 122). I haven't posted my food diary today, but we did go with a group to a Chinese Buffet -- never a pretty food log afterwards. ... but it was soooo good, we're taking another group there on Friday for lunch. I have been taking walks, but we've had 40-50 mph winds and the temps have been dropping rapidly (for the desert). I've bought fresh fruit and drinking water for my snacks so all is not off target. - Judy __________________ We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust our sails... |

Reply with quote | #10 | I'd say that 122 total carbs for 1 day is very good! Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Gout has hit me again, in my left heel. It hurts to walk but the weather was so nice today that I forced myself to do it. After 15 minutes of limping it got better and I was walking normally, but slowly. I walked for one hour. (No pain, no gain!) After sitting here for two hours with my laptop the pain has returned. I am taking Allopurinol for my gout. It will work in a few days, I hope. __________________ "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift."....Eleanor Roosevelt

Reply with quote | #13 | Richard,
I feel sad that you have a recurrence of gout. It is not fun and especially when the weather permits you to walk outside. Does your medicine take a while to "work" on the pain?
It probably is not the same as gout, but my Dr. diagnosed me recently with plantar fasciitis. I just couldn't figure out why my heal hurt when I walked...now I know
Hope you feel better soon.

Reply with quote | #14 | Kathy I hope we both feel better soon. I have taken my med three days. I think i will be in much better shape, with very little pain, in 2 or 3 more days. Allopurinol is a very good med for gout. I does nt bother my BG numbers at all.
Is there a good med for your problem Kathy? I hope so. __________________ "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift."....Eleanor Roosevelt

Reply with quote | #15 | Richard - How is your gout responding to the medication? Does it still hurt a lot? Best wishes to you too.
There are only about 5 medicines that can get rid of the type of infection I have and I'm already on #2. Hopefully tomorrow I can resume taking the medicine that I had to stop last Friday.
