Reply with quote | #32 | Dear Diabetes, you got me good yesterday! It was my day, mother's day that is. My wonderful husband cooked up me and my mother a wonderful meal, including homemade dumplings, oh dang it I know you would not let me get by with enjoying just one of my favorite meals, no not you--cause you are so mean. But I did what I wanted, and you sent me sailing, into a dizzy sleep. Is there no day that you will give me peace? I dream of a life without you, I need some rest from you.....PLEASE go away. Oh I no you are not going anywhere, who am I trying to kid anyway? I know NOT YOU right? You and I have got to figure out a way to get along, so who will make the first move? Me or you? Either I take you on or you will take me out.....

Reply with quote | #34 | Dear Diabetes,
Just because I've got your number (5.3) that does not mean you need to go picking on my friends! They're nice people!

Reply with quote | #35 | Dear Diabetes, I've not written to you in some time. I wanted a break from thinking about you. But we all know that can't last to long or you will take over (as we all know you like to do). I've been thinking about you today, and I've decided that I have got to take you over. Why would I let someone I hate so much run my life? Good Question. I've vowed to myself that no matter how tried I get, how frustrated I get, no matter of much I don't want to deal with you...I WILL DEAL WITH YOU starting right now today. I normally just blame you for everything, but its not all your fault. A lot of it is my fault, yea you run in my family tree, but I'm the one that stopped exercising. I'm the one that shoved bad food choices in my mouth like I would never get to eat them again. I'm the one that let's you make me crazy. It's all me.
I have to take much of the responsibility, really all of it. What I do, will affect what you are able to do to me. Its game on........

Reply with quote | #38 | Sharon, Unless you get under the covers at 8:00pm, a goal to stop eating after 6 will be almost impossible for most people to keep. Why not choose something that easier to do - create a list of foods that are ok to eat after 6 and only choose from them. They can include no-calorie beverages (tea, soda, etc), diet gelatin with diet whipped topping, veggies and soup. Or, foods of your choosing. Janis __________________ Janis Roszler, RD, CDE, LD/N |

Reply with quote | #39 | Thanks Janis. I was drinking diet pepsi/rootbeer. Didn't have any sf jello but will make some shortly. I need to get some veggies that I can eat. Thanks again, Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Reply with quote | #40 | I think I'm going to go and try to write my letter to Diabetes on paper and then I'll type it here. (Been on the computer too long, am getting stuck in this position - I blame Facebook.....)
