Reply with quote | #32 | I must be doing something wrong. When I click on chat, I get a blank screen with a large grey square in the upper left hand corner.
Do I need to download something or make a change in my Explorer setup? I am running Windows 2000 pro with IE 6.

Reply with quote | #35 | Hi,
Yes, I was logged in when I tried to get into chat, I might not have Java running I will look into that.
I am T2, was diagnosed around 1970 (I'm 64). My brother and sister both have T2 also (they are older).
I am on Metformin, Glyburide and Januvia (maximum doseage for each of them) as well at Lyrica, Vytorin (10/40), Levothyroxine (100mcg), Ambien, Benzaepril, plus use a CPAP.
I might also be on Lantus soon as that is what the doctor said at the last visit since my bs is still running around 220 in the morning and 200 after dinner. My doctor finally honored my request for an endocronologist so hopefully I will finally move forward on these issues.

Reply with quote | #36 | You sound almost like me with all your meds. I may have you beat. Not that that is something to brag about. So, with the lyrica, do you have neuropathy? I have some and occasionally at night the bottom of one foot will ITCH like crazy. Sometimes I can just let it go and it goes away on its own. Other times I really have to scratch/rub my foot against the carpet. Oh, I am 62. Sounds like your dr. is really staying on top of things with you. Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Reply with quote | #37 | I have had to fight with the doctor every step of the way. That's why I wanted an Endo.
As for neuropathy, yes I have it "Bad". My toes feel like they are frozen and are going to break off, the bottom of my feet feel like I am walking on blisters, they tingle, hurt all at the same time. My legs never stop hurting, I get shooting pains down the back of the legs, the fronts hurt and yet when I walk (even just for grocery shopping) the skin on the front of the legs feels like it has gone numb. My hands tingle also.
Some of it is my own fault. I, for some unknown reason, stopped taking my medicine many years ago and didn't start up again for 20 years. When I finally went back to the doctor my blood sugar was out of sight.

Reply with quote | #38 | Oh, Sarah, you poor girl. I feel so sorry for you. Yes, we need to always take our meds AND eat right and exercise whatever we can do. My biggest problem - eating right and exercise. Then it sounds like the lyrica isn't helping you too much? I am on nortriptaline (generic) for both anxiety and my feet. Have you ever gone to a foot dr. (podiatrist)? I did and he told me if the med my internist dr. gave me didn't help I should let him know and he could give me something else. Sure hope you are happy with you new endo. Have you got an appointment yet? I know when you first want to get in you have to wait sometimes, 3-6 months. Do you have any support group (usually at a hospital and free)? If you lived close to me I would invite you to the one I go to. It is at the hospital close to my house and we are all senior citizens. We do have winter visitors who are leaving now and will return sometime in the fall. But we meet all year round. Anyway, I do get carried away. LUM - Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Reply with quote | #39 | Hello Sarah Louise I had neuropathy too but after I got very good control of my blood sugar and stopped having highs it went away. It is high blood sugar experienced over a long period of time that causes really bad neuropathy. If it isn't already too late to reverse your situation then good control might make your neuropathy gradually improve. ou may have to use a basal/bolus insulin program to get that control. Carb counting is very important. I eat 130g of carbs per day. How bad are your blood sugar levels now? What is your current A1c? I hope you don't mind my asking. It is good that you wat to try to get good control now before things get worse.

Hi Sarah Louise! Welcome to the dearjanis family! Do what you can to keep your blood sugar in a healthy range - that can help keep your neuropathy from getting worse and may improve it. Some people find it helpful to take alpha lipoic acid supplements for their foot pain. You can also try capcaisin cream - it is a hot pepper cream that is sold without a prescription in the arthritis section of the pharmacy. It helps stop the sensation of pain. Just be very careful to avoid getting any cream near your eyes. It will burn! Regarding the chat area, the board was recently updated, so there are still a few glitches that need to be worked out. Meanwhile, meet the gang and have fun! Janis

Reply with quote | #42 | OK, I just logged into the board, clicked on Chat and it still said I had to log in. So logged in to the chat room and got in. Maybe you need to log in again just to the chat room like I just did. Don't know, because before I just logged into the board and got into the chat room too.
