I did my thing yesterday and that fulfilled my JSP for that week! I had to fast 12 hrs. to do my FBS and C-Peptide tests this morning. That gave me a high of 255. I am correcting with insulin. I don't feel like exercising. Maybe tomorrow. Richard |

Buddy and I did not get out for our walk today. I slept a lot this morning. That's after I was up, had breakfast and got the garbage out. Read you later - LUM FUN AND LAUGHTER - Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

Hi Mary, Sharon and all the other walkers! I was very brave today! I did 1 mile at 3.0mph and incline = 6.5. It did not seem to hurt me, yet. I am sleeping okay now. The pain in my hips is better. I guess my crummy body just needed to adjust. I did this a year ago without the pain. So what gives??? I might be deteriorating at a rapid pace but at age 67 I suppose that is to be expected! Okay gals, keep up the good work. Your Ole' Walking Buddy, Richard |

Richard, you are doing just GREAT! You at age 67, I sure wish I had your stamina at my age - 60. I go walking with Buddy and am lucky if I make 1/2 mile, no incline. Many times it is only 1/4 mile. I guess I figure at least I'm out there walking. Sometimes I can push myself and other times not. LUM FUN AND LAUGHTER - Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |

You are a wonderful person, Sharon. You keep doing what you are doing and start adding just a little bit more every few days. By the end of the year you might be walking a mile, or close to it. Richard |

Reply with quote | #70 | So I'm "the younger woman" here, huh? We're close...I'm 57 years old. I'm proud of you Richard!! Great Job!!! Sharon, if you do what you can, then you'll do more with time. Keep going!!!
Busy day and I have to run an errand so here are my numbers for today:
Yesterday's total steps: 7555
Today's treadmill: 30 minutes at 2.7 mph no incline
Where are we walking to??? Could we walk to Europe or someplace great like that???

Well Mary, I suppose you might take a flight to Europe on one of those extra fancy planes that have an onboard gym, of sorts. If you walked on a treadmill for the duration of the flight then you could say you walked all the way to Europe!!! How's that! Rascally Richard |

Buddy and I did NOT get out walking in today. BUT I was doing some work in our walk-in closet shelves. Up and down the 2-step ladder and walking around the house to get rid of things on the square folding table I had set up in the bedroom. My legs are sore now. I repeated yesterday's feat today. I have decided I cannot go for more than 4 days per week at this speed and with incline = 6.5. I will have to decide on 7 days per week with very little elevation or 4 days like those I'm doing now. Richard |

Richard
That would be a tough decision to make. Maybe Janis could help clarify the benefits of each for you. I do know that when we exercise it increases our metabolism and helps to lower our blood sugar for about 24-48 hours as well as releasing endorphins which elevate mood and a sense of well-being, which would give "less incline, 7 days" an advantage.
Incline would most likely cause you to increase muscle and work the muscles (including your heart) more than no incline, but does it ("6.5 incline, 4 days") have a bigger payoff than the increased metabolism of the 7 days? I'm assuming that it also increases endorphins, but with less frequency than the "7 day" plan.
Hey, Janis???? What's the answer to that question from a physiological angle??
Now, as for flying on some fancy airplane with a treadmill on it so that I can say that I walked all of the way to Europe..... I meant figuratively...my imagination precedes me here.... Now who's the rascal???
Sharon, it sounds like you got a lot of exercise with that ladder yesterday. Good for you...two accomplishments for the "price" of one!!!
Stats:
Yesterday's total steps: 7907
Treadmill today: 30 minutes at 2.7 mph with no incline....my hubby did it this morning (he works from home on Thursdays) for about 10 minutes at that speed. Yea!!! I'm proud of him for getting on there!! He may have had to get back to work, but I'd like to think that it's because I've advanced so much on time and speed. __________________ CLINK - CLINK - CLANK - CLANK!!!

Buddy and I got out for a little walk this afternoon. I am very tired today. Sometimes I get out of this by the afternoon, but not today. Read you later - LUM FUN AND LAUGHTER - Sharon __________________ Sharon from Arizona |
