Do you walk?  If so, join your fellow walkers and post your daily progress here!

Thanks for the walking club, Janis!

Yes, I walk 7 days a week on the treadmill, plus wear a pedometer so that I can track steps for all of the steps that I do during the rest of the day!

TOTAL STEPS (Yesterday) - 7876

TREADMILL WALKING (Today) - 30 mins at 2.4 mph

Anyone else or was I talking to myself while watching The Terminal (Tom Hanks) and walking??

I walk on my treadmill only 3 times per week.  Janis suggested I not do it every day for my first weekly JSP for this year.  Yesterday I walked 1mile in 21.5 minutes.  That is 2.8 miles per hour.  The incline on my treadmill is 6.5 so I am walking uphill.  Instead of increasing the inclination I am going to increase my speed until I walk a mile in 20 minutes, or a rate of 3 miles per hour.  Then I might go to 4 days per week, etc.

Mary, do you have an incline indicator on your treadmill?

Hey gang, Mark came over and he and Larry went out for a while and Buddy and I went for a walk.  We went to the left from our house, to the corner and around to the next and came back to our house and were just started going on when Larry and Mark came back so we went back and then Mark decided to go for a walk with Buddy and me.  So we went to the right, down to the corner and around to the next corner, turned around and on the way back I started having tummy problems and I thought I hope I get home in time.  Just then Larry came in his golf cart and told me to drive it home and they all walked home.  But Buddy decided he wanted to run so Mark (being only 30) ran the rest of the way home with him.  But all this to say that Buddy and I got our walk in this afternoon.  Oh, my pedometer doesn't seem to be working so I didn't wear it.  I figure I am walking.  Sorry.  Read you later - LUM  FUN AND LAUGHTER - Sharon

Awesome!  You guys are really moving!  I'm still in Israel and have been walking long distances each day - exercise combined with amazing sightseeing!  That is the beauty of being away from home.  Walking is never dull.

Keep on truckin' gang!

Janis

Gosh, gang! We've got a good group going here!!! Good job, Paula, I love it when you walk!! You too, Sharon! You could actually walk to the library from your place, huh? Israel must be beautiful to look at when you're walking, Janis! I wish that I could see it too!

Richard, I'm impressed with 6.5% (I think it's percent...could be degrees...will have to look it up in my booklet) incline! I did that for about 10 minutes at 7% for one of my stress tests, and it's not easy. Yes, my treadmill will go to either 10 or 12. I can't remember which at the moment, though I will become more familiar with it in a few weeks, when I will have to start adding. Mine also has 6 or 7 pre-programmed courses with ups and downs and speeds and inclines, etc that I haven't explored yet, as I'm not ready yet. Eventually, though....

Let's see....my numbers for yesterday:

Total steps: 5490 (we had our daughter and her hubby over for the day and played cards so I wasn't as active as usual....still did my treadmill though!)

Treadmill: 30 minutes at 2.4 mph (no incline...yet)

Tomorrow I'm going to go for 2.5 mph for the week. Still watching The Terminal, though I think I will finish it tomorrow.

Whew! I dressed for the cold this morning, as there is some snow on the ground about 6 miles or so from me (much closer to you, Sharon) at Recker & McKellips. There is snow on the Superstition Mountains! That's 2 years in a row! Amazing!

I was drenched with sweat by the time I finished walking this morning!! How about the rest of you??? Were you glistening??

Total steps yesterday: 6313

Treadmill today: 30 minutes at 2.5 mph with no incline

I checked out my booklet for the treadmill, and it goes up by .5% each time that I push on incline up. I didn't see where it says the range 0-?? but I'm pretty sure that it goes up to 10%.

I'm going to try to get a shot of the mountains from my house. If I can get my camera to work, I will upload the picture for you all.

Thanks Janis!!!

Here's the snow picture that I promised. People flock there when there's snow in order to get pictures around here because it's so rare. I figured that if you all were cold, you might walk at a faster pace.

(note: I took attachment picture out, as I didn't want to forget where I left it. lol) Trust me...it was very pretty and very cold here in the desert!

Good Job!! I see you walking a little faster over there on the other side of RR (the rascal)!!!

Yesterday's total steps: 7217

Today's Treadmill Report: 30 minutes at 2.5 mph with no incline....watched the last 5 minutes of The Terminal and started Chicago (not sure whether I'm going to like this movie...dd and dsil gave it to me).

Are the others lagging behind??? Hey RR!! How's it going??? Red?? Sharon???

Oh! I checked and my treadmill has 6 preset programs, 2 of which have hearts next to them and the other 4 have two lines like on a graph, so I'm assuming that one is incline and the other speed.

Mary!  No, not much walking with this cold weather and slippery sidewalks were people don't shovel.  EACH year I say I am getting good winer boots and kept putting it off.  Since I am more into walking now, I will for sure soon, because I am sure some are on sale now. Taking my good ole time walking when I go to stores though. Walk around for 30 mins. plus many times. Glad you are back on and thanks for the pics you emailed, beautiful!  I love snow as you know!  Have a good one, will email you shortly! CLINK! - Paula

Don't forget gang... you don't have to walk outdoors!  You can walk around the house, up and down the stairs, during television commercials, etc.  Don't let the weather stop you!

.... Trust me I do Janis!  Yesterday before lunch I was, cough-cough, at 189...had lunch, two hours later I was at 111!  I was organizing my Christmas totes and laundry up and down stairs.  My pump is set to "La Cucaracha" for the two hour after I bolus!  It is so funny!  I thought that was good!
