OK, I had my first Rehab appointment yesterday.  This was all preliminary stuff.  I had 2 guys, Jason to work with exercise and Patrick with my diet.  I had Larry come in for the Patrick - diet.  He is the one who also took all my measurements.  Also talked me through that foods I will be eating.  Unlike the CDE's who work in the foods people love, like cakes, pizza, etc. he took me off all of that and has me eating every 3 hrs.  We went shopping when we left there and bought the Ezekial bread/tortillas he wants me on, also bought a large container of whey protein powder to make smoothies.  I got the Dutch chocolate flavor.  Also bought tilipia and had that last night for supper.  Some of the food isn't really so strange, but the Ezekial breads and the protein smoothie is different.  Oh, ya, Jason also told me that medicare will allow xxx dollars, so he doesn't want me to come 5 days a week for 8 weeks.  He said the money will be gone before I know it.  He suggested I go twice a week instead.  So my next time will be tomorrow at 10AM.  I also have to write down everything I eat.  Usually I just write down my carbs.  Oh, that's another thing - they don't count carbs/calories, etc.  He asked why I need to count carbs so I educated him a little on my pump.  He was fine with that.  I think I covered it all.  I think tomorrow I'll start with exercising.

Forgot to mention - Patrick also wants me to drink about 1 gal. PER DAY! - or as much as I can drink.  Yes, I have my glass of water sitting right by me and just keep drinking.

Well, my rehab is going good.  Still haven't lost any weight but I am getting more flexible with the stretching and on the bike.

Hey gang, we went to the church where our daughter goes.  They don't have any restrooms on the same floor at the sanctuary so I had to walk down several steps - 3 times!  Well, I took my bp at 3:30 and it was 153/78!  Yes, I know that walking improves bp and I just proved it today.  Got to get up early (it is getting very warm here now) and walk outside on the days I don't have rehab!

Well, gang, I was sitting in my recliner this morning and Larry asked if I was watching my time - almost time for me to go to rehab.  I sure didn't feel like it - tired/sleepy, depressed, legs hurt, and I just didn't feel like going.  BUT I did go.  I talked to Patrick, my dietitian and trainer.  Told him how I was feeling and gave him a couple pages from Lifescript I had printed off my computer concerning diabetes/eating.  He read it and when I was done he talked to me and changed a few things.  I said I still feel cheated as far as my eating goes.  So he said I could cheat once every day.  Then he wants me to do some movement every day I don't go to rehab.  Even if it is just "walking" while sitting on a chair.  Or actually walking outside for 5 min. - SOMETHING.  So that is what I agreed to.  I just felt like it was just to strict for me and feeling really bad.  He also said if I cheat twice in one day forget about it, don't feel guilty, and start a new day the next day.  He also said at night when I go to bed to think about what I am doing the next day and PLAN when I will do this exercise/movement.  I think this might work better - we'll see.

Every journey starts with a single step.  You'll get there!
Good luck, Sharon.

Hi Sharon:

Been busy with mom for the last few months so I haven't been online in a while. I love the program you are on. You will see many changes and learn so much and it sounds like you are also teaching your trainer a thing or two

I'm so happy that you are sticking with it. You will see many changes and I think it's so great.

Best of luck
