I am going to take m 4th dose in the morning. My fasting have no effect this morning 160. Lost 5lb so that is good. It takes 6 to 7 weeks to have its full effect

So sorry, rich49.  I don't think anyone here is on bydureon.  I know I am not.  I am on Victoza and it is working for me.  But welcome to our little family of dearJanis.com.

As you can tell I am new here. Bydureon is for type 2 diabetic. It is the same as byetta instead on 2 shots a day it is once a week.

Hi Rich,
Welcome to the dear Janis family!  Nice to hear that you are starting to see some benefits from Bydureon.  Lots of people like it.
Keep us posted on your progress!

The only side effect that is the bumps with every shot that I am not crazy about. I am on 2000mg of metformin also and still have high fasting. My Endo is more concerned about the fasting then I am. Been on metformin for 3 years so. I give the Bydureon a chance have 11 more in the ref keeping cold.

Hi Rich,
Your doctor is monitoring your fasting as a way to see if the Bydureon is doing its job.  Ultimately, your A1c level is the real measure of success, but you only get that result every 3 months.  Hang in there!

Yes, I think you should call your endo.  He should be able to help you.  Like I mentioned before, I am on Victoza - 1.2 dose once a day in the AM.  It is helping me.

Thank you Sharon for your reply. I read with bydureon they say do not take with insulin. My mother is type 2 and been on a pump for 7 or 8 years her a1c are in the 5 range so you are on a pump but need to take Victoza it seems the insulin can keep one in control but what do i know I am not on insulin I just see what the insulin does for my mom. Plus she is in wheelchair and very over weight.

Hi Rich49 ~ I have been on Bydureon for about 5 months, after taking byetta for years.  I have not seen any changes in my #'s between byetta and bydureon. (which is OK because byetta worked well for me)   I sure like the one shot/week vs: 2 per day.  I agree that the bumps it leaves are annoying.

I also have higher #'s first thing in the morning.  I think my doctor once called it dawn syndrome?!?  I'm sure Janis can explain it better than me...   But, since my overall A1c has been in a good range, my doc hasn't been too concerned about that early AM #...

Good luck with the Bydureon and I will go next month for another med ck/A1c ... so hopefully I'm still on track !!

Farrah ~

Hi Farrah - so nice to hear from you and that Bydureon is helping you stay on track.  I wasn't aware of anyone here taking it - never heard of Bydureon before.  I have heard of byetta and victoza.  I was on byetta and now on victoza and the victoza is helping me.

Ok 8 weeks on bydureon lost 12lb fastings where in the 170's then went down to 140's to 150's so I was thinking  it was starting to work well this morning was 175. I am going to take the 9th shot right now and have 5 more. See Endo Oct 21. I like the weight lose but seems it is not helping with bg

Hi Rich,
I can tell that you are disappointed, but a drop of 12 pounds is a great accomplishment!  It looks like your body is responding.  Don't lose hope.
